Weed removal is pulling and treating the weeds in lawns, garden beds, paving and driveways so they do not come straight back a fortnight later. We do it across Melbourne's western suburbs, either as a one-off clear or as part of a regular garden run.
Because most weeding only takes the top off. Pull a dandelion or a dock and leave the taproot in the ground and it is back in three weeks, often thicker. Same with couch and kikuyu runners through a garden bed, and oxalis, which grows from tiny bulbs that break off and multiply if you yank at it.
So the method matters more than the effort. Taprooted weeds come out with the root. Runners get traced back and lifted. Bulb weeds get treated rather than pulled, because pulling actively spreads them.
Weeds in a lawn are usually a symptom. Bare patches, compacted soil or a lawn that has been cut too short lets the light in at soil level, and that is all weed seed needs. Clear the weeds and fix nothing and you will be doing it again next season.
So we treat what is there, then tell you the actual cause. Normally it is mowing height, a feed, or a thin patch that needs over-seeding. It is not a big job and it is the difference between weeding once and weeding forever.
Beds get hand weeded and then mulched, because mulch is what stops the next generation germinating. Weeding a bed and not mulching it is half a job.
Weeds in paving joints, driveway cracks and along a fence line get treated at the base. We keep spray well away from lawns and plants you want, and we will tell you before we use anything if you have got pets, kids or veggies nearby.
