Pressure washing lifts the dirt, mould and black grime that builds up on concrete and pavers out here. We clean driveways, paths, patios, pavers and outdoor walls across Melbourne's western suburbs, and the difference on a shaded south-facing path is usually the biggest change you can make to a property in one afternoon.
It is mostly mould and algae, not dirt. Anywhere that holds moisture and does not get much sun grows it. South-facing paths, the strip down the side of the house, under a carport, around a tap. It builds up slowly enough that you stop noticing, and then you see a photo of the house and the driveway looks grey and streaked.
A broom and a hose will not shift it because it is in the surface, not on it. Pressure takes it off and takes the top layer of grime with it, which is why the concrete comes back the colour it was when it was poured.
Concrete driveways and crossovers. Paver paths, courtyards and pool surrounds. Patios and verandah floors. Brick and render walls, fence panels and garage doors. Steps, which are the spot where mould actually becomes dangerous rather than just ugly.
We work the pressure to suit the surface. Full pressure on a concrete driveway, dialled back on pavers so the sand does not blow out of the joints, and gentler again on render and painted surfaces.
If a house is going on the market, a clean driveway and path is one of the cheapest things you can do before the photographer turns up. Same for a rental inspection or a property going back to an agent at the end of a lease. Give us a call with the date and we will work back from it.
Not if the pressure is right. We dial it back on pavers so the jointing sand stays in place, and gentler again on render and anything painted. The gear is the same, the setting is not.
On a driveway that gets sun, a couple of years. On a shaded south-facing path it will start coming back sooner, which is why some people put it on the list once a year along with the gutters.
Yes, we run off an outside tap. Just point us at one when we arrive.
